I agree. The 55 trunk emblem is a bit more classy. If memory serves me well, I also believe the seats in my 55 400 were better than the seats in my 56 Patrician. The seats in my 55 felt more like the seats in my 48 Custom 8 and the 56 feel more like the basic 8 model. The block letters on the 55 also detract from its looks.56 looks much better with the coat of arms.

I had the chance to take a ride in my friends 58 Packard Hawk.It is a rather low mileage car (about 43,000) and it is in pretty nice shape with the usual stude rust spots.I was very impressed when he jumped on it and practically threw me into the back seat.It is quite a car.

Appears to be the bottom of the line model 200.It should have a 288 cid straight eight with solid lifters. If it has Ultramatic Transmission, you will want to make sure that the trans shifts smoothly. These can be costly to repair. These are nice cars but do not have much value so make sure that it is a solid car that will not require an arm and a leg to repair.

Recognized most of the cars in the video as Dave Kane lived in Connecticut and was a member of my club (Eastern Packard). The 1953 Clipper Deluxe is an all original very low mileage car that was formally owned by Neal Donovan. The 58 Hawk was a full restoration from the ground up.I believe Dave and his wife drove from Connecticut to California in the 57 Clipper which I believe had factory AC.

Just got back from the show.It was something special. The Panther Daytona and the Request are not restored but they are nice.If I know Ralph, they will be just as nice as the Balboa and the Macauley Coupe when he is done.I love the Predictor and the Request.

When the company started to fail, they signed a management contract with Curtis Wright.Curtis took control of the Utica Engine plant thus Packard lost production capability of both the new V-8 and Twin-Ultramatic.I have always wondered about one thing. When Packard bought Studebaker, they were using Borg-Warner automatics. Why didn't Packard adopt the more efficient trans and dump Ultramatic?

I had the same problem with my 48 Custom 8.I actually found a NOS one on Ebay.I hate to say what I paid. From what I was told, Buick and Hudson antenna will not fit Packard.
