Tom, I'll bet that not many 2015 5.0 Mustangs get sold! I complained about paying the one time only 13% tax on my $500 winter beater Mazda 323. I will have to revise my thinking.

Guscha, The Lada did sell in Canada though not in any great numbers. They seemed to be well assembled however the dealer network and sale promotion was very weak so they never became popular. The little cute ute Niva 4x4 occasionally come up for sale and I wouldn't mind owning one.

You can remove the governor without removing the transmission. I am not certain of the wrench size but I think more than 1" . I removed the one in my '47 several times. IIRC I used an appropriate sized thin walled open end wrench. It is a bit tight in there.

This is truly a lovely Packard but in today's market a pretty optimistic expectation in value. If it was a #1 car perhaps but this isn't there yet. Of course with the Canadian $ at $0.75US this car is way out of my price range.

I am in the preserve camp as well. I recall that when I bought my Packard the interior only had one tear in the front seat and I should have repaired that and left it as is instead of replacing the interior with non original fabric. In my opinion it is better to repair and save, if possible, the original components of a car especially paint and interior..

The box of 9 Autolite point sets #1-14 that I have cross reference to Echlin CS17 and according to a 1960 Autolite catalog are correct for 1949 Model 2306 if that is any help. These point sets are for sale BTW.
