I am proud to announce the 1st Irish Packard Weekend!..........

The program is as follows;

Friday 30 Jan 2009. Swap Meet.
To be held in my garage here in Galway.........

Saturday 31 Jan 2009. Road Run.........

Sunday 32 Jan 2009. The Big Meet! ........

The Very Vigorous Vestal Virgin Valeting Company', who promise to caress your pride and joy to restore it to its former glory. They also do a damm fine job of cleaning cars.

Do join me/us for an action packed fun filled, if lonely and miserabe, weekend!

Pat.

When composing my reply to Pat's post, edited version of his post is shown above I got carried away
and digressed so much after my initial 3 questions that I have now created this separate thread to give my
response a life of it's own. Here's what I wrote:

Saying all that, and not in any way trying to upstage your inaugural event, I for one will think of you when P.A.C.A. (Packard Automobile Club of Australia) has its 2009 Packard National Rally in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales (South of Sydney) late in March. Over 40 Packards will attend from 20's to 50's and about 100 Packard people, including a couple from the UK, a couple from New York, people from Texas and people from New Zealand. Centred in Mittagong, the week long event (22nd to 28th March) will feature daily runs, a cricket game at Bowral Oval(boyhood home of the immortal Don Bradman), a Tree-top walk and run to an ocean-side town, a Show & Shine day at Berrima together with the biggest (only?) Packard swap meet in the Southern Hemisphere and a Farewell Dinner and Presentation night.

The links below will tell you something about:
The Southern Highlands, where the Rally is being staged -southern-highlands.com.au/
The Illawarra Tree Top Walk -illawarrafly.com/
Kiama, our Rally run point on the 27th -kiama.com.au/

In fact, rather than just think of you and your apparently lonely Packard existence, it'd be nice to meet you in person. So I'd like to cordially invite you to attend our Rally but unfortunately I can't offer any help towards the expense of the trip other than the incentive of seeing Packards and meeting some very friendly Packard people. By the way, this offer is open to all members of Packardinfo, and if not for this year as time is running out, then for future National Rally's. The next Rally in 2010 will be organised by the Victoria region of P.A.C.A. and I will update details as these become available.

PS - Can't offer anything in the way of competing with or topping your The Very Vigorous Vestal Virgin Valeting Company'. If I'm ever in Ireland that would be one experience I wouldn't want to miss out on!

While I greatly appreciate your invitation I cannot believe you expect me to pay for my own trip.

After all it was the Irish who populated your country with some of our finest minds, including vagabonds, thieves, sheep rustlers and this is the thanks we get!

As Shakespeare said in King Lear,

'How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is
To have a thankless child!'

But I do wish I could make it there!

All the best with the show.

Pat.

This reminds me of a quote from the movie "The Ghost and the Darkness"......"The reason why God invented whiskey is so that the Irish wouldn't rule the world".

Pat,

I can assure you we are thankful. Just look at all the Aussies who search assiduously for convict ancestors so they brag around the BBQ of their connection to our earliest days.

Pat & Mal,

I've often conjectured that we might've been better served if we'd got the convicts and they'd sent the Puritans to Australia.
