As you can tell I'm new to the forum so any help would be much appreciated!!! Thank you guys very much, so I am in the process of getting a packer and I'm trying to pin some stuff down that isn't making sense, the briggs body plate number and the packard plate number on the firewall (yes they match) is 2677 6532.-2677= 1953 Mayfair correct? I am being told its a clipper deluxe, the only block casting number is on the passenger side front of the motor and is 419582? And there is a head casting number on top of the head and its 720 50Any help would be really appreciated!!!

Yes, a 2677 is a Mayfair and it should look like this:

packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/model ... l.php?modelnum=2677&ButtonLookup=Go

Also, here is the list of Packard engine serial numbers and their locations:

packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/PackardEngineSerials.pdf

The numbers on the head dont mean anything. They are just casting numbers. The engine number is on the actual block, drivers side right below the head, towards the back. The above document shows the location.

I have seen the block number link I am waiting for the guy to look for it again he looked on the passenger side so we will see what he has to say, and I'm glad I could at least figure out its a Mayfair! However is there any way it could have gotten titled as a clipper deluxe? He said the title says its a clipper deluxe and has that body number on the title? And thank you for the reply!

Make sure the door jam number and the Briggs number jive, and the numbers jive with the Registration slip.

G'day 53packar,
to PackardInfo. Just looked at the Model Info here on Site for '53's and as BigKev confirmed you're looking at a Mayfair, which is a pillarless hardtop. While the two Clipper Deluxes for '53 are a 4 door Touring Sedan and a Club Sedan. If there is any doubt photos may help in identification.

On another tack, and presuming you're successful in obtaining this Packard, I invite you to include it in the Packard Owner's Registry here on PackardInfo!

Welcome to the website. Someone more familiar with 51-54 than me will help you sort it out. Glad to have you aboard.
