Hi there,

As a new owner of one of these lovely cars I am still working out some of the features etc. I thought it may be valuable to others as well as me for a bit of a what is it thread!

So to start of..

Can anyone tell me what the chrome knob on the side of the steering column is for?

Cheers,

Warren

That's the windshield wiper control (and the windshield washer control if you have that option). Turn it clockwise to start the wipers.

You can find more info in the owners manuals which are available elsewhere on this site.

OK...I have my own "What the heck are these parts for...or where do they go) question. You think I would remember where they go and/or I would figure it out as I ran out of parts to reinstall but I cannot.

Does anyone know where these two parts go?

Can't identify the top piece at the moment but if no one else has the info I will look at my car tomorrow. I think I remember seeing something similar. The bottom piece looks like the fore aft stabilizer. I believe that bracket goes on the bottom of the transmission or OD and the other end goes into a hole in a plate bolted between the x members at the rear end of transmission or OD.

Yes as Howard said the part on the left is the clutch snubber that attaches to the transmission and x member.

I may have remembered that top piece. Just for grins, check the crossmember or K member just behind the engine that the two side transmission mounts attach to. See if that angled piece doesn't go at a diagonal between the cross member and the frame. IIRC, there is one on each side.

The top piece is indeed a cross brace for the X member. There is one on each side.

THANKS for that!!!

I will look at the other part tomorrow to see if it is under the transmission and will report.

THANKS AGAIN!!!
