One of my wiper blades is beginning to make a mark on the windshield. What is a source for replacement? Don't get caught in the rain often but it does happen, and I do have working washers. I can't tell if they are ansco or trico but they are 12 inches long. Does brand matter and where is a good source? Prefer not just the blade replacement but the holder as well.

You just need to verify the arm hook style. Not uncommon for the wiper arms to have been changed over the years, so the hook style may have changed.

As Kev said, styles change and many of the blades available at retail today will have black blade carriers since most modern cars use that style.

If you still have the original type blades which for some year Packards are almost obsolete, if you can't find a fit and need something more modern or something modern closer in looks to stock and maybe an easier fit, do a search and see if you find the size you need at a retailer or online store that carries the brand called Trico Classic blades. Those usually have a chrome or silver blade carrier or holder. If someone already converted from the old carriers, blades alone might work but if you need to convert to a complete modern blade and carrier assy, while the Classc carriers may fit the older style arm attachments directly most also come with a separate adapter piece or two so you can adapt various type arms to the new carrier.

I picked these up at NAPA for my 53 Cavalier. They look original.

I have some new Trico inserts in original blade holders at my Oregon shop but haven’t decided yet if I want to sell as I also have several cars that they fit. However, as others suggested, you would need to know if your blades are original or aftermarket replacements.

After reading this set of posts, I realized that the wipers had not been replaced on my '54 for at least 20 years. Thought it was time.

Went to NAPA with the part no. and they had them in stock out back. Amazing!

Thanks for the prompt,

Les

I have gone to NAPA for parts and been pleasantly surprised that they had them in stock, or could get them in a day or two from the warehouse.

I was also able to find these at my NAPA store.(6-011-6) However, when I put them on, I discovered they were 11" instead of 12" like the originals. Left them on but still want to find some that are 12" so more surface covered. Now that they are off, I can take one with me so I can make sure they are the right length. Somebody have another number or brand?
