[color=66FF33]Thanks for the welcome guys!, i am starting on the rear end of the car i have at my house as it and the ultramatic transmission were already out of the car, so ill ask a couple of questions on that first and keep this as a sort of step by step journal thread, so others can follow along with my resto's.

what do you guys recommend for lubricant in the rear axle,
mine was already apart and the fluid that was in it was pretty thin, like motor oil, also do the rear axle shaft bearings take grease or are they lubed by the oil in the differential.(i am an auto mechanic, but have not had to work much with rear differentials, mainly engine building and body work, so expect a lot of questions!) ill catch up on my research in the meantime

He's up to 1! Nice drawing by the way. Very 'artzy'.

First, welcome to the best Packard forum on the internet. You will find lots of help here answering questions. Which leads me to my second thought. Review the "FAQ's" which are listed under that heading on the left above the Main Menu. This will answer a lot of your initial questions without having to post them and then someone responding to them. I wish you well - there is a wealth of info here to digest including all the manuals and Service Counselors.

Does anyone know where i can get a manual transmission and clutch assembly for a 1953 2662 series clipper deluxe, the hydramatic is not the original transmission for the car i am working on, and id like to keep it original.(my preference for a manual transmission has nothing to do with it, really!)
