Most run 4 to 5 psi. The Service Counselor having your years specs will have the pressure listed in the fuel pump section.

It may have been mentioned before but those symptoms are identical to two I've personally run across.

One was the flex hose at fuel pump was hardened. A chunk of the liner broke loose and acted like a flap valve restricting flow. The faster the engine tried to go the more suction from the pump and more the flap moved blocking the flow. Something restricting the gas tank outlet could do the same thing.

The second on another car was when the ceramic filter was clogged with varnish. In that one you could blow air thru, car idled just fine and element passed enough gas to idle but the bowl never filled. It wouldn't run faster than idle just as yours is doing because gas couldn't get thru element fast enough. Any other filters or the screen in the bottom of fuel pump could do the same thing.

Hopefully you've ruled all of those out. Unless your existing fuel pump needs a rebuild, just putting an electric pump on may not cure the problem if something else is the cause.

Gregor,

No need for you to do anything, besides I don't think you can anyway! Our esteemed Webmaster, BigKev, will do what's necessary.
