I would like to know how rare and what would be a fair value for the 352 intake and carbs

I believe you need the "Bat Wing" air cleaner with the setup to really be worth a lot. The intake might be worth something to somebody like me (except I already have one) because you can get other, more modern and new carbs to fit it.

FYI, the difference between the 1956 374 1x4 290HP engine and the 2x4 310HP engine was the intake and additional CFM that the carbs provided. Also, the 2x4 intake is a 360-deg design, not 180-deg like the 1x4, so the former is better at high RPM.

Since this is OPs first post and his screen name is superhawk, could be he's looking to buy for a '56 Golden Hawk installation. If that be so, the Packard bat wing dual air cleaners will not fit there.

Jack,

He was asking how much they were worth, not what they would fit. Just saying.

Based on some sales I'm familiar with from 2-3 years ago at Hershey, properly cleaned and painted intake, correct carbs rebuilt by Daytona, and all linkages and fuel lines but without the air filter were between $4000 and $5000.

So if Superhawk is looking to buy for a Studebaker, would that mean 56 2x4 carburetors as opposed to 55 2x4 carburetors?

What I guess I'm asking is were the 2x4 manifolds used on 55 Studebakers or just on 56 Studebakers?

The Caribbean setup was never OEM on any Studebaker. All 1956 Golden Hawks were built with the '56 junior 352" V8; 275hp, WCFB carb, Autolite distributor, generator, starter. Anything else was dealer or owner modified.

Having said that, there have been several '56Js modified with 374" V8s, Caribbean intakes or an approximation of the discussed-but-never-offered "Jet Streak" optional kit. This would have had the Caribbean intake, choice of several Iskenderian solid lifter cam kits and a dual point distributor.

Bottom line - never a sure bet what one will find under a '56J hood today. Best find was an Ansen-built 374" and worst was a junk 320".
