'51 288 OD, about 17 at 60-65 highway. Probably 15 doing rural errands. Never drive extensively in town.

I've tracked every fill up for my '52 Patrician (327 Ultramatic) for the past three years, and the best mileage I've gotten was 15.1 mpg, which was on three tanks of exclusively highway driving at 60-65 mph during a Packard Club tour last year. Each tank came out exactly the same, 15.1 mpg.

The worst I've seen is 8.6 mpg, which was exclusively city driving and prolonged idling.

My average for about two years was 10 mpg in mixed driving, although lately I've been seeing around 11 mpg regularly.

I had my 54 Patrician (359, Ultramatic, 3.54 axle) in the days before E10 gasoline; it would just flirt with 17 mpg on highway driving, premium octane of course for the 359. Adjusting that for today's E10 gasoline would probably equate to about 15 or 15.5. In pure local driving it was a pretty good guzzler, about 10 mpg.

Wouldn't the guys over in Post-War be the logical place to ask about '51-54s? Maybe a larger pool of experience.
