Isn't there some lore about that thing being rebodied from a wreck and not a factory order?

Believe there is NO mention of a 160 SW in any PACKARD Lit.
BUT NEVER SAY NEVER Interesting this Trade Letter packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb ... 931&topic_id=22902forumpost220931 ref to the 110 and 120 SW but nothing about a 160 BUT NEVER SAY NEVER GOODING AUCTION "Please note that further research indicates that at Bill Harrah's request, a genuine Hercules Station Wagon was fitted to this Packard 160 Chassis." goodingco.com/vehicle/1940-packard-one-sixty-super-8-station-wagon/

Jim Hollingsworth built a 1940 160 or 180 woodie. It's been too long.
Not sure where that car went, but I don't think it had A/C.

Looks like the car Bill Harrah made for himself years ago. His had factory A/C.

I wasn't aware that it isn't even a period production. I thought immediately the Air Conditioning story was crapola. Where do you put it without filling the cargo space?
The video is symptomatic of every thing I find nauseating about this old car stuff today. Two know nothings, dressed worse than a homeless guy, living on beer, acting as if they should be taken seriously, and nodding in agreement about a total crock of bull from somebody with more money than brains. Please pass the Pepto.

I know you didn't watch the whole video, but the car IS equipped with air conditioning. The compressor is there, and the evaporator is in the back. Do I believe that it's a factory-built 160 station wagon? Hell no. In fact, the Gooding Auction site even said it was built for Bill Harrah.

What I was meant was that the story about the car being built with air conditioning is a load of crap. There are pictures floating around of that thing from the Harrah period where it doesn't have the unit.
Cutting a hole in the roof, bolting on a wrecking boom, and then saying it is a special order with air conditioning would be no less ridiculous. I haven't seen that clunker up close (nor do I want to) but even from afar there are aspects of it that indicate the body is a reproduction as well and that all of the stories floating around about its origins are spurious.
