O_D, this is a good one. I will venture to nominate the rectangular shaped brake and clutch pedal pads.

John, I believe that your pedal pads will cut out Randy's master cylinder - well, Randy was the first who came out of the wood. I go to the mat for a very smal part but I am smitten with remorse because it comes close to the bolts & nuts category. Therefore I encourage you to disqualify my probably unsatisfactory suggestion.
Dave, once you talked about Schrader valve stem covers. That led me to a memorable quotation on www.schraderinternational.com: "...We were founded in 1844 by German pioneer August Schrader, inventor of the now famous Schrader pneumatic tire valve; the very same patented valve which is used on every motor vehicle in the world today..." picture source: www.velobanjogent.blogspot.de

I can't think of anything that lasted longer than the rectangular pedal pads, so would have to agree with JW.

Not saying the rectangular pedal pads is not correct, just remember the use of them was interrupted in the 23rd series for a short time with the oval pads, and then the rectangular ones returned later. Does anyone know off hand the first year for the rectangular pedal pads?
So, what else is a contender? I've got a candidate but don't know if it's correct, let's see what else comes along.

Seems to me that a lot of brake parts, like wheel cylinders and even some shoes, springs 'n such dated from the introduction of the 120 until the end. When were those pedal pads first used? I have to admit that I've never paid attention to them before!
