So I just finished painting my 51 200 Black. Then I looked at your Paint X-ref and I notice they didn't have Black. There was no code on the door plate and all I have ever know the car was to be Black. Please say I didn't mess up. I sure don't want to re paint the car. But if I have to I will.

It was not uncommon for paint charts not to list black. It was Packard paint code "X".

For what it is worth, the 1948-1954 Parts Manual available here shows that for the 24th Series, 1951, there was a code X for black. If you like it black, keep it black.

And to further ease your mind, here is another --albeit somewhat faded --paint chart showing black as code X and also having no color sample.

Wow,Thanks all. I was afraid I was going to have to hand sand the whole thing again. I had thought it had been Black its whole life when I was sanding it but you can never be sure , My great Aunt looked like she had hit ever corner of the car when I was prepping for painting.
