Sideview Mirror

To avoid a serious blind spot, I want to install a sideview mirror on the left door of my 1934 Club Sedan. The sidemount mirrors look neat, but are of little use. I assume there are door edge mounted versions as well as hinge mounted units. What is recommended and where can one purchase one?

The construction of the 1934 doors without a lip makes mounting of the usual type of door-mount mirror rather impractical unless you want to drill holes in the door and screw the mirror into the wood. Best bet and the one I chose years back in the hinge-pin mirror. Besides, it's a correct factory accessory. Bought mine from Jay Fisher who is a major player in the mirror business.

Does anyone have a copy of Jay Fisher's catalog or brochure. Just curious if he is still making the 51-54 mirrors.

Thank you. I'll give Jay a call. I noticed in HMN where he sells his catalog for $2. His phone number is 732-388-6442.

Jay also has a stall at Hershey. It will be interesting to know how you get your door hinge pins out

Seems as J Fisher sold his last side view mirror two months ago. At age 80 he is backing out of the business. Any other ideas for a suitable hinge mounted mirror for my 34 club?

If you temporarily lower your cars standards until you find a real one, some of the Ford vendors & probably other makes as well sell a hinge pin mirror for their vehicles of that era & might be able to adapt.

Can we assume Jay Fisher will be selling his tooling and jigs to someone else who will be continuing the business? This would be valuable information.

His mirrors for the 55-56 Packards were not exact replicas, but since his offerings extended beyond Packard and to many other brands, I'd hope that he would offer the business for sale, but some people are funny about that.

Makes me wish that I had already bought a set of '54 mirrors from him. DOH!
