Are there currently new gas tanks, P/N 443145, available for the 55-56 cars? Is the tank the same for the 51-54's?

The company is called Auto City Classic, Isanti MN. At this time, they do not have any 51-56 Packard gas tanks in stock, just the straps and hardware. They are in the process of having a new batch made. Some concern I have regarding these tanks is what I read on an older thread saying that there was a problem with the filler neck bend requiring some re-bending. Anyone have information on having to modify the filler neck?

I don't have any problems.
Little low on the 400 the locking gas cap is bigger than the original cap But nothing that's a problem. The fill tube. Spout could be an inch higher..to make things easier

I installed one in my 56 Clipper and had to bend the filler. I told Auto City Classic about the issue. Here is the comparison of the original and new tanks. I used a tubing bender to make the necessary changes. Prior to bending the filler was partly below the filler door.

I had the same filler neck issue on the two replacement tanks I've installed. Though the second one (maybe a different batch?) was much better and the neck itself looked different. But they are definitely lower than the stock one. The first tank was much lower, but I can still get the cap on and off without a problem so I never bothered to bend the neck up.

Riki, that's about where mine sits as well on the older reproduction tank.
For reference, here are two different reproduction tanks vs original tanks. The first is a repro I bought in 2020. The filler neck sits at 1-2" lower than the original. Ordered from Kanter. ![]() The second is a repro from 2024. The filler neck on the newer repro tank is in a better position and has smoother bends. Ordered from AutoCityClassics. This tank was also unpainted, whereas the earlier repro tank was painted silver. I assume they came from the same manufacturer....both came from Taiwan.\ ![]()

Just got my new gas tank in from Auto City Classics. Filler neck came separate from tank with a 5" "radiator" hose coupling and 2 hose clamps to attach to the pipe coming out of the tank, I noticed in the photos of the tanks you guys have got it looks like the filler neck was one piece connected to the tank. My concern with this "hose" connection is that when you go to fill the tank at the gas pump, the weight will tend to distort the rubber hose coupling. Any thoughts on this issue?
