More on the Kinsela Hearse courtesy of owner GraemeL

"...The body was build by Oldings in Glebe. My 39 Dodge hearse also has an Oldings body, as does my mate Stu's 37 La Salle. The 'newest' Oldings hearse I've ever seen was a 53 Ford. Not sure if they continued building hearses after that or not...."

And a little googling found this and this. The first link is interesting in the info it provides about the actual body building process.

See the 2012 Expedition Across Australia Site has been updated up to and including 1st April. And there's a pic of "Maxi"! Now, is that David or Don in the red fluoro vest?

Tomorrow the VVCA 2012 Expedition Across Australia ends at Martin Place, Sydney outside the G.P.O. at Noon. I'll be there with camera!

Don't know if Veronique took the '29 Roadster and met David and Don at Bathurst but, last Sunday, John(Appin) and Annet were talking of doing the same thing, albeit without Packard - Junior still didn't have spark. EdK also said he'd join the welcoming crowd so there'll be Packard people present to welcome David and Don home.

During the course of the Expedition I was starting to think 'Maxi' might be invisible. Reason being there were no pic's of him on the official website. That was rectified a couple of days ago when one blurry one appeared. Then another pic today. But now I'm overwhelmed with them, because early in the piece David had sent me an email whose subject was "Access to 1912 Centenary Expedition 2012 Dropbox for entrants - please advise all your friends - and the Media". I subscribed, but early on there weren't any pic's because there's no internet access in the Australian Outback. Now, with plenty of access, there are plenty of pic's. Some below of 'Maxi', and a few others. If you'd like to gain access to all the pic's in the Dropbox please send me an email at ozstatmanATgmail.com and I'll forward you the email I received. There are plenty of motorcycle pic's, they outnumbered the cars on the run.

Seen at a local shopping centre and probably the only one in the world, but I could be wrong. Guy is trying to muscle in on the Stretch Hummer action.

concerning the V8 car above, i would be interested to know what valve springs he used with his cam regrind. i had to source my own to match the new grind as Jack said they were all gone for the ones he used.

also the upper timing chain gear....doesn't look stock.

Thanks Mal for the great pictures. It is really good to see the vehicles out touring rather than just being trucked to a show. A tip of the hat to all participants.

G'Day Henry. The valve springs were purchased straight from Kanter - $96 the set. Re the timing gear, I actually didn't purchase it as it came with the car when I bought it from John P (JP).I gave John a call and he is going to go thru his records and post where he purchased it from...

Howdy! (Texan for G'Day)

Did you get the mild cam regrind from jack? If so I would recommend something more then what I assume are stock valve springs from kanter. Check out my project blog to see what I came up with... Then again I haven't started my motor yet, but based on the specs they should work great with this mild cam I have from jack.

Howdy & G'day,

Henry and Warren, you set me a task to find out about those timing sprockets. I worked out that I bought them on eBay in 2006 and did it using a computer that had been superseded soon after. However, you're in luck as I was able to resuscitate the old computer and after a long wait, found the item we wanted. I bought the gears from Mark Sarine, Mad Dog Racing and Fast Engine Parts, 3901 SW 47th Avenue (#413), Ft Lauderdale, Florida 33314. The telephone # given then was (954) 7929800 and his internet (email?) address was dwpartsguy@erwparts.com. A bit of electronic sleuthing might track him down if these contact details are out of date. Good luck, John
