Is there an online manual that has diagrams of the various parts of the car.

The engine/transmission should be Packard engine green if you want originality. Grey engines started in 1948.

The clutch fork spring runs parallel to the master cylinder. It connects to a hole on the end of the throwout fork and the other end is attaches to the flat bar like arm coming off the steering box. I labeled the arm in the photos from a couple of days ago.

The brake spring attaches to a pin on the pedal located just above the pivot shaft. It goes rearward thru a hole in the rear cross member the transmission mounts bolt to and then is hooked thru a hole in the X or diagonal part of the frame.

Hello HH56, many thanks for the pics, all sorted now, what confused me also is the spring at some point its been changed and not the same as in the pics, i have ordered a new spring. Well the chassis is nearly at the point as to where i cannot do a lot more to it.I have got it booked in to a local exhaust fabricator and they are going to copy the original but make it in stainless steel. The cost for this is ?500 which I dont think is to bad. I will post some pics as soon as its been made and fitted. I have also have some new Sheet metal folded for repairs to the sills.
Well thats about it for now. I am hoping if all goes well to have the body shell back on the chassis in 2 weeks or so. Thanks for watching. Howard

Just had another look at my chassis and i cant see the small arm thats in your diagram that the clutch spring attaches to near the steering box. Where on the steering box does it bolt. As there is no sign of a bracket, I have to admit i cannot remember seeing one when the steering box was removed. any ideas. do you have a pic of it fitted to a car.

Thanks

Howard

It attaches under the top rear bolt that holds the steering box to the frame. Just a flat bar with an approx 30 degree bend and hole at each end.
