I'll get some pics when I go take a look at the car on Friday afternoon. Hopefully all my other parts arrive soon as well so I can dive into the reassemble.

-Rear Window gasket and hood bumpers are on the way from Steele

-Trim Clips should be in today or tomorrow

-Ross is sending me a piece of window stainless to replace one that I mangeled during disassemble

-I have a complete spare set of side belt line stainless coming for the car that I got off of ebay for like $20. Which is good as I discovered my front passenger door trim has a long shallow dent in it.

-Need to inventory all the rubber seals I have squirreled away and see what I am missing.

-Still need to order the horizontal window "fuzzies" still, rear bumper filler dust seal, and the b-pillar seal.

-Also I still need to paint the dash and interior garnish moldings. But that will wait until the car is sealed up.

This is the point in the project where I am realizing all the millions of things still left to do!!!

Moulding clips arrived, I think the spring wire clips will work just fine, the bolt-on style clips are not the right size :( . Just a note, when a clip says it has a 1 1/8" head, that does not mean it will hit a 1 1/8" moulding. DOH. I had to reorder some different ones. I guess I will throw these out on eBay to get rid of them as shipping and restocking fees dont make it worth it send them back. I figure these 1 1/8" clips actually fit only a 3/4" wide moulding.

Also, since I effectively doubled the money I have in the car with this paint job and other parts, I made sure to up the loss coverage on the car in the event something were to happen to it. Luckily going from $5,000 to $10,000 agreed value was only an extra $30 a year.

Whoa Kev, those clips with the 1 1/8 head. Lets see a picture. Do they have a little spring leg on them? They go in on an angle and the leg is sprung out to hold them taut.

Ross, they are half the size of the factory clip, and literally spin inside the trim channel. Way too small.

Finished getting all the trim I have on hand poshished. I really forgot how much stainless there is on this car!

Kevin, many years ago I refinished the exterior of my 1966 Corvair Monza Sport Coupe. Removed all the trim and took the finish down to bare metal. This was all done outside on the driveway (no garage in those days). Then I took it to a body shop where some dents were repaired and the body preped, primed, and painted. I remember what a good feeling it was to reassemble the car. The best part of your project is yet to come.

Kevin,

Don't forget about Bar Keeper's Friend. It is a great cleaner of stainless. I have found a small addition of this to my polishing wheel very helpful.

Cheers,

Tom

Space made in the garage for the return of the Clipper. Will be glad when there are more parts on the car, the off the car.
