They are pulling the 1.5 millions Corvette out as I type this.
According to the museums FB page GM is still going to restore every one of them.
I guess they don't really care about fiberglass parts and interior. All that can be easily replaced.

Also I believe they located the last car today

They removed the 1.5 millionth Vette from the hole today.
They also located the 8th and final one today. It appears that the last one is not visible from the angle of the web cams.

All 8 cars will be on display at the museum until August of this year. They will be moved soon after the 20th anniversary of the museum.

They pulled the final corvette out of the hole today.
They have images on their facebook page. The last two they pull out were bad but this one is nearly unrecognizable as a car.

All these cars are on display at the museum now and will be there through at least August.

I guess they can start filling the hole in with all the recalled GM parts.

For us Sink-Hole-Porn viewers . . . .

I was watching the final lump that was an 01 Mallett Hammer car.

Mallett Motors takes a new stock car like a corvette and hops it up similar to the Shelby fords of an earlier era.

The Mallett was a pretty nappy car as seen in pictures of it sitting on the museum display floor.

The first view of it on the web cam looked like a muddy rock.

Most of the body of the car crumbled off into a pile as they lifted it with the crane.

I believe the frame of this car was aluminium.

I didn't see much of this car that was restorable and it would be somewhat easy to buy a used one that is still in one peice for a lot less money.

Of the 8 cars that went in, one actually started and ran but had damage and a big oil leak. The rest looked like they had been through a crushar with little left of the car body.

Does anyone here really care? I don't. This is a Packard site.

I'm sorry I wasted your time JW.
This thread would have died natually since the excitement is now over. You could have just ignored it.

Stewart, and over reaction on my part. I apologize. Many folks visit here and have varying interests. You're right, I should have just ignored it. Personally, I like Corvettes.

While I'm not at all a Corvette aficionado I don't find this topic unacceptable. It just shows what can happen to cars in storage.
