I'm still here, just waiting for the heat wave that has ben plaguing us for the last two weeks to subside so I can get back at it.

Not in a house I am renting!

I have a pretty good blower fan. But when it's hot and humid, it just makes you sweat faster.

We are starting to do cursory searches for houses in the Midwest, and have narrowed it down to northwest Indiana because of land cost, cost of living, property taxes and distance to Chicago Airports and Nicole's family. What ever we pick, the garage/workshop/barn is going to get A/C and Heat if it doesn't already have it.

I'm frankly amazed how many homes in the area have only 1 car garages. That's a no for us. Perfect fit for us would be a 2 car attached for the daily drivers, and at least another 2+ car garage/workshop/barn for the Packarding. Also trying to find a place with more than 1/2 acre, but less than 2, and a bit out of town, but not in the sticks. We want some distance from the neighbors, but not "deliverance" distance. Not looking to farm, nor do I want to spend an entire day mowing.

Currently looking in the greater Muster/Merriville/Cedar Lake areas. Also, we like the area near New Buffalo, MI. But the distance is greater, and the property taxes are higher.

come on out to Indiana. New Buffalo you are getting close to my stomping ground. Better taxes and land if you stick to the Indiana side say Laporte / Michigan City. Anywhere in this area you can hit the train straight to Mid-Way or O-Hair.

This is a Packard rich area....

Illinois was 49 highest property tax behind New Jersey, (Hank, Texas was 46th).

Indiana was 23rd, and ranked 4th cheapest overall cost of living.

The state of Illinois is close to bankruptcy. Very high taxes to boot.
It's a great place to be "from", like me.

Work like we do here in AZ... Get two good fans and work only in your boxer shorts. You know Kev... Impress the ladies a bit!

Hey,
Kentucky is close enough to Chicago to visit any time you want but far enough away that family won't visit you to often.

I grew up in Indiana and graduated high school just north of Chicago so I have enjoyed them all but that was a long time ago.
