Also, the money cleared the bank Mal, so I'll be shipping Wayne's transmissions and your stuff tomorrow. I'll also be getting Jack's stuff out too. So, once all this is done, I'll be getting some pipes to make the intake side of the manifold, and be buying some 1/2" primary blockhugger headers for the exhaust, and hopefully be getting it all welded up this week, so I can finally get the manifolds done and mocked up. More pics to come soon!

Since you are building completely custom headers, do you see any advantage to making it "dual" exhaust? Meaning a split set-up, treating the 8 cylinders as two sets of 4, with separate exhaust pipes and mufflers for each set. Just thinking it might make it "breathe" better. Any thoughs?

If you want to have people bid on shipping stuff for you, here's the website you want:

http://www.uship.com/

I've used it. Their are two charges; one pays the website for finding a shipper, and the other pays the shipper. However, the website bundles those two costs into the bid, which is a little unusual. If the bid comes in at $300, you'd send 50 or so to uship and 250 to the shipper.

But hey it works.

I'm using small block Chevy blockhugger headers, which will mount two turbos, and therefore dual exhaust.

As for the shipping, I'm not too worried about that engine, I found a pair of 356's here local for $400 for the pair. I'm just trying to decide whether I want to put up the money for them or not.

No, just trying to decide whether or not I should spend that much money on car stuff right now. They're not going anywhere, and I'd rather have a 9 main 327 or a 359.

A 288 head will give you a higher compression and bolt right on, or for some $$$ the aluminum finned heads have been remade. I love your project. Best wishes.

Dave,
this project is for many of us what dreams are, and through Eric we get to follow along as he fulfills his dream.
And, to PackardInfo, although I see you've been a member here for a while you haven't posted before. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank you because when I was first exploring buying a Packard, and before I found PackardInfo, you were one of several people on the AACA Site to offer me encouragement.

Now that I've said that, here comes the bite, could you please include your Packards in the Owner Registry here together with pic's, any known history and how you acquired them? From your AACA signature it would be good to see your, 1942 Packard Custom 8 convertible restored, 1942 Packard Super 8 project and 1946 Packard pick up project with Packard White engine on board here.
