Ross,

If you do get the car, do you have a manual brake standard transmission car to compare how Packard got the pedals to be at the same at the same level?

Major wreck of a tanker truck on the nearby interstate today. Aint nothin being delivered to my house. Should come on Tuesday now. Will compare with a "normal" 53 that happens to be on hand.

Hi

Glad Ross will get some good out of that rough stick/OD Clipper. When these cars are advertised for nearly scrap prices, that's unfortunately where the car ends up next.

A few Free-Flow-Styled selection around the northeast:
A '48 Eight 22nd, 39K miles, original:

A '49 Eight 23rd, green, ready to enjoy:

Two 23rd Series projects:

One addition, this fellow is selling his late father's last project, a '51 300:

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.

Ho ho ho. Got the nasty 53 Clipper this morning. Dumped a cupful of PB blaster into each cylinder to loosen things up. At 4:00 bumped it carefully with the starter two complete turns, then turned it over with no plugs till the oil came up. Vigorously cleaned the points, hooked up a gravity feed gas tank, and by 4:30 it was running--and rather well. Satisfying. I love cheap nasty cars.

If anyone wants a good builder 327 or a complete overdrive setup I can fix you right up.

1955 Clipper Super Panama - $4800 (Youngstown, OH)

We've seen this before but the seller added a few pictures. Unfortunately, the new photos are just as bad as his others and he raised the price from $4500 in September to $4800 today. And he wonders why the phone isn't ringing...

Curious, the piece of chromed trim that extends into the roof from the windshield center divider seems to be missing, it's a one year item for a low production volume car and I wonder how easy it will be to find. Also missing running board trim on one side.

Just a personal thing but I can't stand closed sedans in fire engine red. Seller says in wants a repaint anyway, so without any knowledge of the mechanics but with the paint and only a fair interior, I'd think in terms of $40-$45 for it - am I far off the mark?

$40-45 is pretty generous I think without knowing the history of these notorious 38 super 8 blocks. I agree the color got to go. With a fair interior, unknown engine history and a paint job to be done I'm thinking more in the $25k range to be realistic.

"these notorious 38 super 8 blocks."
Was there something wrong with the blocks in '38? And is there the same problem with '39 blocks also, as they are very similar?
