Here is a 49 project at what seems a reasonable price (maybe).

Looks like a 23rd Series Super 8 on the 127" wheelbase. It even has its original unique grill. Barring any rust issues it looks like a good project candidate.

Hi

A '52 "250" sedan, looks decent, though the fake lake pipes and headlight dolly shades would have to go:

columbus.craigslist.org/cto/4376106139.html

Would keep that snazzy Cormorant with translucent blue wings though, matches the top and would look swell lit up at night!

For the Packard & woodworker enthusiasts among us:

An ambitious project, to be sure.

I question the "250" designation. Sedans were 200, 300, or 400 series; the 250 designation was reserved for the convertible and the 2-door hardtop (Mayfair).

Hi Dave

I was surprised the seller was even aware of that arcane designation among Packard models. Perhaps because it has the 327 engine and teethy grille, he concluded that it has to be a 250.

Come to think of it, wonder why Packard didn't include a 250 sedan version with the 327, Senior grille and a hardtop-style interior plus other deluxe options as part of the package to fill out the series?

Yeah that's a 200 with the optional 300 engine, same thing as mine. Note the faucet valve to turn his heat on and off, high tech. The interior looks very similar to mine, seats have been redone to a solid color. I also see the windshield wiper motor is missing. All my reading on this site and elsewhere, I'm learning!

Definitely not a bad car. Old school on the heater valve though. One on the head was all there was until sometime after the 22nd series started production. Hoses look kind of strange on the side of heater so with the funky valve installed, I'd almost bet the thermostatic valve started leaking and someone did the easy fix and bypassed it. Expect many couldn't find or didn't want to spend for a good valve or don't know the rubber piece for that valve can be obtained thru Napa and valves repaired -- although messing with the crimps means it is not the easiest item to fix.

$16k would be with a 10 second timesheet,, otherwise maybe $10k.......depending on your level of seduction to the concept. I despair of the screwing up of Packards with Chev 350's and Big Blocks. Why don't they just buy a Chev or Ford.... I just do not understand the mental maths... PT
