Someone had commented earlier on radiator shells being chromed vs. painted and there seemed to be some question as to which was MORE correct. I posted that I thought the painted shells look more contiguous and 'natural'. That 2-tone paint scheme on the coupe really makes the point that when you separate the shell from the rest of the front end (with different coloured paint OR chrome) it really takes away from the 'smoothness' of the lines of the car. I guess if Packard did it at the factory, there must have been SOME support for it being a classy look, but I think the shells are too 'thick' to not carry the same colour as the main body paint. Just my humble opinion, mind you....

What is completely misunderstood by too many 1930's car owners is that two-tones where the fenders and even radiator shell were painted a contrasting color from the body went out of favor after 1932. The leader in monochromatic color schemes was the '32 Graham Blue Streak. The idea was to present a unified, streamlined, modern look rather than visually separate elements with color as had been done before.
That upholstery pattern in the '36 120B sport coupe looks very 1970's, like something in a Malibu Classic. Wonder if that was the wife's idea?
