If I didn't know any better, I'd say it was a funky Y-block Ford. One question though, what is the little dome with the wingnut on the top of it beside the oil filler tube? Oil filter?

A centrifugal oil filter, how interesting! I thought they only put those on heavy duty trucks. From what I've read about them, they're 100 times better at filtering particulates from the oil as compared to the normal paper filters.

Thanks for the additional info on the heater vent. I must say, it does look a little better and more finished than the Packard implementation but didn't realize the seat didn't move. That would be a big negative in my book. Guess those in command didn't care about drivers much--unless they were all picked to be the same size and fit the car. I know Packard had seats that didn't move also, but wouldn't think the number of different drivers would have been that large in their case.

Interesting the car used the Chrysler type generator/steering pump combo. Don't remember too many over here using the single unit. Also power brakes look to be a Chrysler derivative. The brown plastic AC/heater plenum sure stands out in the first car, but not the second. Is there a different year involved or just more detailing by the current owner of the second car?

A FLAT TOOTHED belt driveing the generator ?????? I'm assuming that car is PRE 1975. Maybe the belt was added later on??? I doubt that it could be factory.

So far we have Ford Y block. Other opinions???

Looks to me more like 2 V belts. One mfg made belts with a segmented inner circumference so they fit better around the smaller pulleys but not actually teeth. I have one on my generator. Is that what we're seeing?

Was the transmission cable operated or electric? Full auto Russian design or did they buy/copy.
