Hershey - Day 1
Woe is me! After taking a dozen pic's this morning on my first foray onto the hallowed fields of Hershey I discovered I didn't have the memory card in the camera! I'd left the card in my laptop when I downloaded yesterdays Warren pic's. Did I say woe is me? I should have said stupid me! But, putting that aside, I had a fantastic day including completely forgetting to catch up with O_D, sorry Dave. Did ring though but by then it was too late, although Stella who was there in the PAC tent when I arrived late thought you'd be coming back later in the week. I hope so, but I did ring and leave a message when I realised the error of my ways. I also have to catch up with Ross for some parts he's bringing that I'm chasing for some of our club members. Besides that there are still parts to look for although Patrician Industries, thanks Joel and Marvin, have been able to supply about 50% of the wish list so far! Have only seen part of Hershey so far but from what I have seen I love it!

This post will give you some idea of the "swag" expected. Originally it was only to fill others wants that I was buying parts. But today the reality kicked in with a couple of "impulse" purchases, thankfully little ones, for myself! I also picked up a 48 Grill piece in Lewisburg and I'm picking up another 48-50 grill piece in Florida. Noel brought with him a headlight lens shipped to the Flackmaster on my behalf, an eBay purchase. There also should be a heavy package waiting for me at the front desk but I haven't collected that as yet, thanks David Grubbs. As well, I picked up 4 hubcaps from Dell in Sacramento. These caused a little stir going through security screening at Cleveland airport, I don't think they see many hubcaps coming through as carry on luggage! How am I getting them back? That remains to be seen although there are a few possibilities but until they are settled I wont comment further. If I forget to comment further on this a little nudge will bring results!

Hershey - Day 2
Equipped with a working camera today but only just, it's almost impossible to see the view screen to take them, again entered the hallowed fields of Hershey. Not so productive this time round on the parts front but, on the other hand, met up with some PackardInfo Alumni. These included O_D Dave, GTO Jim, Fourpack Ole, Ross Ross(No that's not a stutter, it's just that the name wasn't changed to protect the innocent!) and MrPushbutton John. Note, I did meet John yesterday but forgot to mention it in my narrative, sorry John. Met most of these illustrious gentlemen in the PAC tent and Ross out on the field of battle, spaces C4G 19-20 in case you're there on Friday and would like to say G'day to him. Great to catch up with all the guys and put names and faces to them. Ross provided some much needed support to a number of down-under Packard brethren whose wish lists were accommodated. Still have more parts to find but the pickings are much leaner now. Saying that though, I have my eye on a pair of rear windsreen strips for the '53 Mayfair, space xxxxx, I'm not that stupid, and much cheaper than Tucson Packard wants for the same thing actually only about a third the price! And some Studebaker hubcaps, shhhhhh! But it's late and dinner is being served, BobW's famous cabbage rolls, so I'll post some pic's of the people and the day when I return in a few hours time.

Not too shy to talk

Hello Mal,
Well, well, well...so you are paying us a visit! I have read with interest your fine comments about your ambitious tour of the US. Frankly, it impresses me that you have taken on this immense journey on your own, including renting a car in LA of all places, and just jumping right in. Good for you, mate! I could not make it to Hershey this year--wanted to go in the worst way, but at the end stayed behind to work on a critical deadline in my studio. Hope to get my transportation device sufficiently developed in the coming months to apply for a patent, my first. I was so very surprised to see the photos of Noel Shorter you posted at Hershey--man his hair is bright orange--would never have guessed it! Funny how you imagine things so differently. Gotta come up with a nickname for him. I will be interested to learn what the highlights were of your visit here. Hope you found the natives welcoming. That Flackmaster takes such pride in assembling the FlackPack at Hershey--it is bigger than Christmas for him. All the Packard folk whom I have met have been very welcoming and hospitable to me, a few permitting me to go along on their adventures--great fun! Hope you have been welcomed similarly. Happy travels, Hooberitz HTL/TTL

Hershey - Day 3
Hooberitz, Thanks for the welcome! I'm having a great time. The hospitality splashed out by the Flackmaster and the FlackPack, a diverse and entertaining bunch of characters, is better than first class. Wined, dined and looked after magnificently. Will report later on the highlights of the trip once I've experienced the lot. Hershey today wasn't fruitful at all, no meaningful purchases but plenty of walking, looking, searching but without meaningful results. Missed out on a purchase, I think. End of the day and the vendor had just finished packing his wares away and wasn't prepared to unpack anything! So the search goes on. Also took in about half the car corral, some interesting vehicles in attendance and available. Tomorrow will have a different focus, with the Car Show the main event. For your enjoyment there is just one pic from yesterday. Attach file: (23.18 KB)
