I'm thinking about re-wrapping the leaf springs in leather, since the metal sheathing is toast:

Tomorrow, we'll go and pick up the 327, so I'll have some more pics then.

After sweating in 95 degree heat with 90% humidity, I managed to get the front and rear bumpers off, and gained at least 3' in extra room since the shorter length:

After mocking up the Maxwell cowl, I've decided that it won't work as it is, since it's too narrow for the chassis:

1937 Parts? Indeed, I'll adopt them into my orphanage. (bumpers/braces) Just lemme know what I can donate to the project, metal or paper, and I will comply. Also, if you wind up not using the transmission mount frame brackets, I'd be happy to provide a set of later (more usable) brackets as an alternative. flackmaster@sbcglobal.net

Eric,

Great pic's! With the rolling chassis, well as much as it can roll on the tires it presently has, it really is a great way to see, show and reference everything as it is. As the project continues it will be interesting to see how things will change as you overcome the various challenges in the Speedster's construction.

I sure don't need the bumpers, or the brackets that mount the trans. I do however have the complete setup for my o/d trans, so I don't need them, but thanks for the offer. I could however, use a '20s Packard cowl!

Mal, I think I've found a way to fit the straight eight in there without too much cutting and welding, I'll know more tomorrow when I have the 327 with the trans hanging above the chassis.

And yes, I see things that are going to be a problem already, like the steering column I'm afraid may not be long enough, so I might have to modify my '56 setup to fit. I'll know so much more when I get the engine mounted in there, it'll give me all the info I need for body and steering fitment.
