That stainless channel came in. It's made for a 1940-51 Ford Convertible Windshield Seal Retainer. But it's pretty much spot on for the Packard retainer. See the picture above on the B-Pillar wood post.

It comes in a 30" strip. I need two 12-1/2 prices for the Windshield to Vent window weather strip. So I just need to cut this to length.

Got all the non-stainless parts of the window frame painted and got the vent wind rubber glued in. Also replaced the window run channel.

With all that done, I was able to get the windows back in. Never a fun job. But it's finally coming together.

Just need to put the vent window crank mechanism back in place.

How many washers did it need to take up the space and did you use one on both sides of the channel.

I used one on each side, so two per shaft. The passenger side fought me. But it's together.

So I'm trying to install the vent window cranks. Neither were on the car when I got it. They were in a bag. They are marked left and right. But they have this bracket on the top of them that doesn't align with the holes in the crank mechanism.

So im.a little confused as to its purpose. It would make sense that this is spacer bracket.

Perhaps the brackets are off a different model?

After a consultation, it was decided that the bracket in question was from a sedan and not applicable to the convertible. The chunkier bracket that was on the car is all that is required.

One part I am missing is the conical springs that go behind the door panels to put tension on the bezel. So I need to track down a pair of those. Also, I was missing the retainer pins as well. But I just cut down a nail of an appropriate diameter to make that work. Not sure if there is supposed to be a special orientation on the handles. But this is what I ended up with.

Doors are missing their garnish moldings which are getting wood grained with the dash panels.

The springs and pins were used across most makes and models for many years, such as these for Chevrolet. Probably the same for the pins but you can even use a piece of a nail or other similar round stock as they are not supposed to have a tight fit.
