Your right, the rear plate says "Daniel Schmitt & Co Classic Cars".
A quick google search says its in St Louis, Mo.

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

After all the work James did getting the car back in respectable condition, sorry to see he is moving it out but hope it goes to a good home. On one of his last blog posts he mentioned baby was on the way so it is understandable priorities change & a car might have to give way.

Yes my wife and I had a beautiful baby girl in the beginning of June. The car has been so much fun and a great experience. Unfortunately I need to downsize on the amount of cars I have. So I have regretfully put it up for sale locally. But it is not the only car I have for sale. I have another car up for sale to. So which ever car sells first goes. But in the mean time i still plan on working on some more projects on the 400. Next on the list is the rear end bushings. Now I know my asking price is high, but if someone is willing to pay it then it will go.

Thanks
James

That 1940 looks like a good start. These bodies in my opinion are kind of pedestrian and usual for the time, but the front clip with that extra Packard length, impressive grille and dual sidemounts really make this a special car, in my opinion.

$5000 is right on the high edge of what I would pay for a restoration start, but overall if I had $5000 I would go for it.

I restore the car, and the car restores me.
