can anyone shed any light on Albert J Meek, a Packard dealer in fort worth?

i didn't see it in the dealer section.

i have one of his decals that was my Grandfather's. i just wondered what years he sold and if it would be okay to put it on my 55.

Hank

Just prewar, the Fort Worth dealership was:

Packard Fort Worth, Inc.
1100 West 7th Street
R. E. Eisile, manager

Perhaps it changed hands during/after the war. You might inquire of PAC's roster keeper for dealerships. He can be reached thru the PAC website, or put a query on that website's forum, he's a reasonably regular visitor there.

Lovely chrome on that Super DeLuxe! I'm assuming it's not a Custom 8 because the trunk lid chrome doesn't make the complete wrap from corner to corner. I'd enjoy seeing a picture of the rest of the car.

Henry,

Yes Albert Meek was a Packard dealer in Fort Worth. He was not the dealer in 1955. He was an interesting man. I met him at Jack Williams Chevrolet, and back in the day, Jack worked for Packard too.

The convertible belonged to the last Packard dealer in Houston, Wendell Hawkins. It used to come to Salado, I do not know where it is now.

are you talking about the car in the picture? that was the only thing i could find when searching for Albert J. Meek.

i had no idea it was a convertible.

do you know how long the Meek dealer was open...was it open in 55 and could it have sold a used Packard then. if so i could still use it on my car.

Hello Hank:

According to the article from the link provided the dealership was opened in 1955 - so you are good to go with the decal.

However, before you put it on your car you may want to at least scan it first and then you can have it reproduced in the future. Might be worth something to the guys in your neck of the woods.

Albert J Meek was not the Packard dealer in Fort Worth in 1955, Harry Fox was.

Wendell Hawkins was the Packard dealer in Houston.
