I am able to download the 48 oil filter option pdf. But the engine manual producces only 35 blank white pages. Maybe someone else can try the download (as a test only) just see if it is a pdf problem or maybe a problem with just me.

Can you provide a link or location?? Not sure exactly what you are trying to download.

EDIT engine section of SM works for me too if that is what you are looking at. What browser or reader are you trying to view it with?

I downloaded the same PDF and all 35 pages display fine for me. At ~3MB it took about 1 minute from a local WiFi hotspot.

Have you opened any other PDF files with your new computer? I'm wondering if it's an issue with your machine's version of or settings for Adobe Reader.

The content of the 1941-1949 Engine Service Manual is the same as the PDF for "Section V - Engine" provided in the 1946-1950 Packard Service Manual. The the latter file is a cleaner, clearer scan, but at just over ~6MB it takes a bit more than twice as long to download.

If you've got a laptop with a good battery and a WiFi, get thee to a McDonald's, which offers free WiFi access, for downloading large files while you have a cup of Joe.
