Need a little help. Can someone tell me does the condenser go to the positive or negative side of the coil. Thanks in advance for the advice.

If you mean the condenser in the dist, it goes across the points and the points connect coil to ground so depends on your battery ground. If positive post is ground as on most Packards before 56 the distributor should be connected to the positive terminal on coil so it will be on the positive. In 56 negative ground cars it would be on the coils negative terminal.

What if it's on the coil for electrical noise suppression on a 6V pos ground?

More likely it would be on the generator, but condensers could care less about polarity.

IIRC, the noise suppression condenser goes on the battery or switch side of the coil, which on a Packard with positive ground would be on the negative terminal.

Is it presenting a problem??? Is there a consenser UNDER the cap by the points???

If no problems then there is not a problem. If No condenser under the cap by the points then most likely (but not necessarily) the condenser under the cap is bad.

Techniccaly, an IGNITION condenser should be as close to the ignition points as possible. But depending on how anal retentive one is about minor but nonetheless technical 'fine tuning' it doesn't really matter how far it is mounted from the points (within reason).

Best to mount under dist cap for weather protection.

It is the condenser on the outside of the distributer. Mounted just next to the coil. It must be some kind of noise suppressor. My car is a negative ground system. So it should go to the positive on the coil?

What makes u insist that it is a noise suppressor??? Just because it is mounted on the coil???? A possibility yes. But not likely. It could very well be an IGNITION condenser.

See JWs post #5 above for a NOISE suppressor. Since your car is neg ground then the suppressor would connect to positive side of coil.
