Detroit Model 51 carburetor - massive fuel leak

Quite a regular

I'm getting my 1931 840 back in starting condition. I'm working on several issues, but I had the carburetor rebuilt with a rebuild kit from pac-carbs.com, and now I've got a massive leak. It looks like the bowl is overfilling, and I probably need to adjust the float. Any other ideas- The 2 minute video of the start and massive leak can be seen with this Vimeo link:

Are you using gravity feed, or do you have an electric fuel pump connected?
Per Parker Roaf: It looks, at first glance, that the float is sunk or the needle is not seating fully in its seat

I keep forgetting that the 1931 models were fitted with mechanical pumps (vs vacuum).

I'd check to see if the float is sinking, as well as making sure the needle is fully seated.

Yikes that is one helluva leak! Its almost as if there is no fuel bowl needle in there at all. I'm in agreement; perhaps the float is sunk or the needle is getting bound up somewhere.
I have an 8th series with a DL 51 (standard) and what I do after its been sitting a while is to prime the cylinders with a tablespoon of gasoline, then try to start it. Also, when starting, only hit the accelerator as the engine is turning over (right foot on the starter button, left foot working the gas pedal). If you hit the gas on an updraft carb absent starting, the fuel falls down and drains out and you loose the effectiveness of fuel vapor entering the cylinders, at least this has been my observation.
