Mal, as you will remember, during their adventures, the A-Team was constantly met by opposition from the military police. The photo, taken at the original shooting location shows Colonel Decker at the critical moment of another unsuccesful arrest attempt in Moscow.

Long-term members may remember a photograph that showed Henry Ford II on the driver's seat in a ZIS.
Even the right hand of Cannon King Krupp and honorary chairman of the Krupp family commercial empire Mr. Berthold Beitz couldn't resists to test a two-tone Chaika in Moscow 1958.
BTW He is still alive at the age of 98.

Since Gerd posted these white GAZ 13 pictures I remembered that there where only 3 white Chaikas ever produced?
Can you Gerd say anything about that?

As above mentioned the pictures showing a bicolored car (another pic attached). In 1957 nine bicolored GAZ-13 went on a countrywide test drive (on about 13.000 miles) and the car above probably is one of them.
As to the question how many white Chaikas have been built I'm without confirmed information. Sometimes I've read about their quantity but the data have unfortunately been of uncertain origin. So all I can say is that original white painted Chaikas are a very rare sight.
I know an original white station wagon, a former government ambulance. Is the white colored Chaika from the Estonian eastcars collection in original condition?
A couple of dozen Chaikas served in their second life as wedding cars and for that reason there was an inflationary trend of white GAZ-13 in the mid-nineties.

Since Gerd is not familiar with white Chaikas then let me tell a story that I heard:
Turning the production of GAZ-13 there where originally only 3 cars made that where white. Not two colored like the first generation models but completely white. The where sold to 3 of the most significate USSR people who had made USSR world famous in some huge ways.(unfortunately cant remember the names any more,since my short time memory disk was full,when hearing this line).
So as for me, I have no idea what to think of it. Lets just say this is a buzzel for the forum users to solve.

The Chaika on eastcars was originally black but repainted white in the 90s. As Gerd already explained at that time it was poplar to repaint Chaikas.

Do you see the snow in the picture? So don't take it as sign of a period of thaw but rather as diplomatic shiftiness that a ZIS carries the star spangled banner at the Independence Day.

The government motor pool consisted of different equipped cars to ensure operational fitness. For the mountainous parts* of the country the logistic task force had an armored version at disposal prepared with oil cooler and second pump for a separate circular flow.



*mistranslation; edit: for the flat plain (Russian: "равнина")
The additional oil cooler ensured a higher sustained speed.
