Series 22 Radio Removal

Just can't stay away

Can't seem to find any directions on the web so asking for input. I jumped in with both feet, removed elect. connection, antenna, and three nuts holding it in. How do I maneuver this baby out from under the dashboard? Stuck!

If I remember another thread from a few months ago, the heater and vent controls unbolt and are pulled forward away from underneath. You will then need to remove the glovebox to provide a bit of room to twist radio and to get your hand in and also the long heater plenum so it can slide back far enough. Once those items are out of the way it should slide, twist slightly and drop.

I've never done it but will probably have to in the near future. There is a thread here on the subject, but the gist of it seems to be that you need to remove everything that's in the way... air vent/heater controls, glove box, etc.

Hey guys....THANKS!!! I lowered the heater control panel,pulled the defroster hose, took the heater box plenum out (4 screws) and the radio fell right out. No need to remove the glovebox. Mission accomplished, on to the next battle......

Are you removing the radio to get it fixed? Curious where you are going to get that done.

Yes, radio just buzzzzzzzz when turned on. I gave it to an 82 yr old friend to repair, he did radio and television (grandkids ask what's a "television"!) repair from '48 to '76. He does one every now and then for friends, not interested in any outside work.

There is a poster on the PAC forumpackardclub.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1957 wanting info on how to remove his radio. If someone who posts there wants to point him to this thread and the one linked above in post #3, it might help him out. I'd do it but for some reason that site never remembered my info so I quit trying to post there.
