Amazing how much room these cars take up when disassembled right?

True! I am still amazed at how big the fenders seem when off the car! I Remember replacing a fender on a 1993 mazda 323 a few years ago, and my replacement Part came in the post. Can't do that w Clipper parts.

I believe these fenders are nearly 6' long and 2' wide and 3' tall at their largest points. At one time I had the both fenders, truck lid, and hood off of the car. Along with all the grill and trim. Talk about having no garage space!

Kevin,

Not to nitpick too much, but I believe you mean single quote ('), not double quote (") as to length of dimensions, i.e., that would be feet, not inches.

Got a few hours in on the packard today, pulled the rest of the tid bits off the firewall, and got most of the interior out of the car...Carb is also mounted on the engine, and engine and trans are tucked away in a quiet corner. Slowly and steady...Gregor my 'garage mate' took apart his 54 chevy pickup. I think we are from two different schools, He got the whole thing taken apart, but it looks like the vehicle exploded in his half of the garage, parts strewn everywhere! I am more the "take part off the car and put it in closet with attached screw" kind of guy...

When he sends out his cab and parts to get sandblasted, I may also send out the parts that I have off the car(fenders etc) Hope we don't uncover too many surprises :-/

The last 2 sundays I got a few hours in the shop...Headliner removed, dash and wiring harness out and wires marked, windshield and rear window out (Man, did I breath a sigh of relief after the windshiled came out and we didn't brake anything!!) The old rubber sure does get hard after 60 years. Shop is also all cleaned up and organized. We already had our first snow of the season yesterday here in Munich! I couldn't believe it. Glad all my vehicles are indoors.
Floor pans also had some rust from the inside, so we will see if they also need metal work... Would be cool to be done for the Euro packard meet in Belguim in June, but I think that is optimistic...

Made some progress on the car recently, which is good because if I don't work enough on this car, I get tempted to buy a 68-72 Dodge Dart with a V8
Body is pretty much cleaned out, and I managed to clean and paint a few small things. The Master Cyl I got from rock auto I painted with my por-15 manifold grey paint, which should look authentic. I hope the paint can stand up to any brake fluid I get on it.

Got quite a bit done in the last month or so, but still a long road ahead...flywheel resurfaced, soon the engine and trans can get mated toether and sit for a little bit. Body removed from the chassis and brought to Klaus who is doing the welding on the rockers and rear wheel arches for me. Doors taken to the sand blasting place and then to the painter who is going to prime them for me....
Now I have to clean up the chassis and paint that, then I hope things can start going back together...I hope I remember how things go back together! lol.
Ex is also on it's way from Kepich....slowly things will come together. I can't wait. hehe. Looking forward to sping already.

Great to see a full 'off the frame' resto taking place on a 50's car! It will be a lovely '53 after all the hard work you're putting in on it . . .

Talking about 'available space' - know what you mean! I had to 'burrow' out a very big area under my house when I got my car (and all the extra parts, like two extra pairs of guards / trunk lids / bonnets and even engines etc). I spend heaps of time 'fossicking' for some part that I saw sometime back. Eventually I find what I was looking for.
