1939 Super 8 Engine Paint Advice

I am about to paint the '39 Super 8 engine on my Limo and would like to get it somewhere near correct. Someone painted everything the wrong color probably 40 - 50 years ago. I looked at many pages on Wades Workshop but several of the engines have different color scheems.

Is this correct?

Block --- Green
Crankcase --- Aluminium
Clutch Housing --- Green
Valve cam roller follower castings --- Green
Transmission --- Green (Note the original paint on the transmission is a slightly darker green)
Pan --- Aluminium
Vibration Dampener --- ?????
Oil Cooler ---- ?????
Oil Filter & Cooler Tubes ---- ?????
Vacume tube from intake manifold --- ?????
Fuel/Vacume Pump ---- ?????

I have seen several Packards with the starter end cap painted green, but I don't think it was originally done that way. Should all accessories be black. Gloss or Semi Gloss

Should I paint the aluminium with Aluminium paint or leave it natural?

Hope I get some answers before I do it wrong.

Thanks in Advance
Bill Wurts

Can't recall observing an entirely original and unmolested 39 Super 8 engine but based on the same engine from 29 thru 37,

Crankcase and oil pan castings are natural aluminum.
cam roller housings are natural aluminum.
Oil cooler is green
Oil cooler lines are nickel-plated.
Intake manifold drain tube is nickel-plated.
Fuel pump is natural die cast.
Some conflicting views on the vibration damper, either black or aluminum-painted.
There is some difference of opinion on the L8 oil filter, the original factory installation may have been green but Purolater replacements were black.

There are some folks on here who have done excellent restorations of 38 and 39 Super 8s who may have better info.

The roller tappet castings are cast iron.
I could paint them Aluminium. I saw an engine picture in Wades Workshop and it was green.

Saw that too, but they should be painted with aluminum. Yes you're right and my memory lapse, they are indeed cast iron.

Sorry, Don't want to lead anyone astray. Maybe I should quit posting pic's from the workshop? I've been shot down in flames a number of times so a better way would be to describe many of the pic's as - close, but not quite.

The workshop and especially the pictures are wonderful. No criticism intended.

While we are on the subject of the Vibration Dampener.
There is only a verrrrry faint scribe line for TDC.
How did Packard install the timing marks. Was it a stencil or a decal or hand painted. A very bad painting many yeas ago totally hid what was there.

It is easy to calculate the distance for say a 5 deg and 10 degree mark by measuring the diameter and then calculating the circumference.

How should I put on these marks and what do they look like?
