The Senior 1955 engines were Ivory. Not sure about the 320.

I found a pic of a 55 engine number ( I think) and it looks to read 151050. How do you decode these engine numbers? Seem to be more/better info for 54 and below. Could be just me though :)

The serial number list is in the literature section but a brief explanation is engine # will be in one of these locations and should be same as body number. The Utica # will be a 4 or 5 digit number starting with a letter -- A, B, C, D and a couple of other letters depending on which car engine was destined for.

Howard, is this the "Rosetta Stone" that give the number of models of 1955 Clippers and Packards produced that many here have been seeking?

JW, I didn't realize these numbers weren't widely known. Here's a page from the reprint of the 55/56 Service Counselors with the data, and note my handwritten corrections based on Haber's original 5-10-57 S-P records. I didn't check every one but I think these agree with HH's numbers after subtracting the base starting point (1000).
I have a copy of the original Haber document somewhere and if I run across it while this thread is still "live" I'll add it here.

Wouldn't say it's a Rosetta stone because I don't know where the info comes from. It's just the 55 info snipped off the serial number list Kev posted on site years ago.

OD,
Who is Haber? So there was some records from Studebaker on the V8 production? I thought that most of the V8 production numbers were a guess, because of the closing in 1956. I remember reading this somewhere. Maybe in the Dawes, or Turnquest books? I can't remember if it was in the Kines book in the back. I have seen numbers in the reprints of th service counselor from small world press. Stuart Blond had numbers as well, but I never knew there was some factory literature on the 55 production. We all learned that the Studebaker National Museum has the 56 cards, so it can be verified.
