The link in post 9 is wrong for Packard San Diego region. Tryhttp://www.packardsandiego.com/ Their project page shows the retainers but like everything else, the price has gone up.

Hi Larry,
I too tried my email address for the SD Packard club, then searched Google and tried to use that email address and got the same info you did.......so, I went on ebay and found that ebay seller "packardsl" has one listed, perhaps he has more.....(note: packardsl is the response to your latest question, the one just before this reply. Give packardsl a PM or use this current link and maybe he can help you. His price is good and he also has other Packard parts. Hope this helps.

Steve............

Last time I ordered from them they were willing to take PayPal which sped up the process and simplified it as well....

Thanks Joel - helpful info. Now I know I can't use these as a pattern if needing to get some made.

Just hope I can obtain from San Diego club . . . If not, is there another supplier of new ones?

I'm guessing any/most used ones will be cactus.

Amen! The originals were spring steel -- brittle and prone to rust. If extra care wasn't taken to free them in the door slots before trying to remove them -- even following factory instruction -- the end or tangs break off as yours have done. Any NOS you find will be just as vulnerable as yours but probably not an issue if you are not going to replace them for another 60 years. I don't know of anyone else making them but the repros are supposed to be non rusting.

The San Diego clips are nicely made of non rusting material, possibly a beryllium copper alloy.

Good product at a reasonable price.....

Thanks to all for the helpful information. I can access San Diego site now. Noted that the one for sale on eBay by Packards1 at 1951-56 Packard Right Rear Exterior Door Handle Retainer 425358 NOS is for a right rear door so doesn't fit my Coupe, but thanks for the tip.

Looks like San Diego makes a sale!

Confirming what Pat said, there were repro door clips in beryllium copper, though I don't recall who the the source was other than they are NLA. But if I needed some useable OEM clips today I'd try Mike Dulinski, with 80+ 55/56 cars he's bound to have some that are useable.
