If you've got white smoke it may well be too late, but worth a try. The head nuts should be torqued to 60-63 ft-lbs. There is a factory recommended pattern but basically you just start in the center and work your way forward-back and right-left in a spiral pattern. This image courtesy of Motor's Manual.

Thanks Owen, I will give this a try.
Is there any tips on removing the head bolts if the torque does not work? I hope they all come out without a problem, after so many years. Thank you again! Al

ALM, no bolts - nuts on studs. Some studs may want to unscrew with the nuts, and unfortunately, some studs may break off. I hope yours all come off as they should.
