Radiators are eminently repairable by a reputable Rad shop. You may not have to replace the core or the whole radiator. Sometimes a simple repair will do it. I'd pursue that solution first. The last thing I would do is pour in some "Stop Leak", if you were thinking about that.

Had my 37 ford convertible radiator fixed locally for $40. It started leaking again 4 months later and he fixed it for good not charging a dime. Btw the 37 ford is for sale if anybody is interested. Pics upon request

I had the radiator in my 51 200 redone by the local radiator shop for $500. They took the old core out and replaced it with a larger one, using the old top and bottom tanks. The engine was rebuilt from a 288 to a 327, but bored out to result in about 340 cubic inches. So it needed more cooling capacity. Moral of the story, support your local folks when you can.

Hey David and PackardV8, thanks for the info... haven't found anyone locally yet but am still searching. I wen't to that feed and read through, some good stuff in there- much appreciated. I live out in a rural area and there aren't many places that specialize in rads but i'm staying optimistic :)

Strange. I've had bad radiators on both my 55 and currently on my red '51. Going to check the blue '51 this week.
