For more complexity, even if it has torsion, it still may not have holes for exhaust on the driver's side as they only put those in mid-year; the early cars only having a single exhaust.

For the database: This 1955 Clipper Super 4dr has single exhaust, but has the hole in the frame for the dual exhaust. I can't find the VIN right now, so I don't know where it stands in the production sequence.

can we quantify "mid-year"? I have to assume that mine is after a mid-year break; delivered in November. 5567-7414. I'm hundreds of miles away at the moment, so can't peek at her chassis.

Since we don't really know how the production might have been sequenced, the only way to really know if it's "mid-year" would be to have the build date. But based on the VN it's a late car.

Does anyone know where the VIN is stamped on the frame? On the flipped Clipper, it's inconvenient to open the D-side door but much more convenient to just look on the frame for the VIN.

If the VN was stamped on the frame it would be news to me.

Dave,

OK, so if you don't know then probably no one knows and/or it's not even there. I thought I had the VIN of this 55 Clipper Super 4dr before I flipped it, but when I looked for my paperwork, it wasn't there.

It's kind of inconvenient to look at the VIN plate now even though the D-side door can still be opened. Maybe someday if the D-side exhaust hole-in-frame turns out to be a big issue.

If you had already given me the data in the past for my file, just give me the theft-proof# and I'll retrieve it for you.

Quick update on the state of the 55-56 V-8 Header development.

According to my old supplier, the 3-into-1 dissimilar tube size header collectors are done. The header flanges are being worked on this week. If lucky, then I should get everything by end of week, if not then by early next week.
