OK, I got the shifter linkage straightened out. I had to flip that "U" that attaches to the bellhousing around so that the U hangs down and not up. I clear coated the firewall, it is shiny now, but has a bunch of runs on the sides which will be covered up by the fenders. Good enough for the firewall! Painting does take a lot of practice, and the nozzle in my paint gun is 1.5 mm, which is a little big for the clear coat paint. So, since that was painted, I got the body back on the frame! yeah! Sarting to look more and more like a car again! I had access to a fork lift, which made hoisting the body a little bit easier. New body mounting pads installed (Except for 4 that I am curently short on, have to get those ordered)
Guess I can start putting more parts back onto the firewall, engine and a few interior things, then on to more body work stirpping and primering....Will have to see how much I can do myself with the weather getting colder. Don't know if I will be able to primer fenders trunk lid and hood myself over the winter.

Getting to attach some of the parts I painted many moons ago, and things are looking good. Filled the rear diff with oil-the second fluid to go into the car. Fingers crossed that nothing leaks out. Putting rubber plugs in the assorted firewall holes for speedo cables and heater controls so that is all sealed up when I get to drive one day. New spark plugs installed, heat exchanger and throttle linkage. Mediablasted the last of the firewall parts and will por15 them this week. Also bent a new line up from the fuel pump to the Kanter Repop fuel filter. -looks better than the 'new/old' plain steel cyl filter that I used to have on there. Honestly the glass bowl full of fuel over the exaust manifold makes me nervous, but I guess it works.

Spent some time in the garage last night and got the heater valve and radiator and hosed attached. Here is a question. Does this hook go on the corner of the heat exchanger to hold the hose up? I had this part in a bag with the label "heat exchanger" but I don't have a picture showing it there (obstructed by air filter in my pics)
Used old fuel line and some 4mm rubber material to make my radiator vibration isolation mounting bushings to hold the rad to the frame. At some point in my car's history, the cross brace was cut out of the rad support...Oh well.

Wow Mike, it is really looking good. Yes that is the right location for the heater hose support.

Do believe I would take a piece of flat stock and weld it in to replace the missing cross brace on the radiator cradle. You could do it pretty easily even with the radiator in with a little care. Hate to see your front end dancing around when you crest 160 kph.

i wouldn't worry about period correct clamps with a k&n sitting on top the carb. i like the clamps from Max, i think those are the ones you are using.

Ha, I was waiting for somebody to call me out on the air filter....If you look really closely in the background on the bottom shelf of my workbench in the back of the picture there is a big long oil bath air cleaner that I have yet to clean and paint. The K&N is just keeping foreign objects dust and dirt out of the carb while I am working on the car....I may try it out on the road at some point, but I will use a correct air filter in the long run.
Just ordered a pack of 25 corbin/mopar style clamps for the heater hoses.
-You're right, the radiator hoses are from max. I like 'em to.

i'm using a k&n also, but i hid it inside the oil bath breather on my 55. wonder if you can do that on yours with that one you have. i have no idea, but nobody would see it.

Mike - This is the conversion I did on my 47 Clipper Custom. Similar air filter to yours. I used an off the shelf Purolator air filter element. Fit nicely and cannot be seen. Others may disagree with this practice as the oil bath type is as efficient in cleaning the air, but messy to service.

JW, I like the idea of the paper element. Do you recall the part number of the filter or the application?

Thanks, Jeff
