That last picture is interesting... it reminds me of open gear-drive steam locomotives often used here for logging back in the steam-age days (how I miss them):

Roger, thank you for giving me the cue to a short excursion to steam locomotives. This museum hosts a collection of king-sized loco scale models. A grand opportunity to convey greetings to our Randy.
BTW Did you know that the starting torque of steam locos frequently outbids modern diesel-electric locomotives?

What great models, thanks Gerd!
I'm also a big train nut, my wife's Mom and Uncle both worked for the B & O, the first railroad in the US, RIP. "starting torque of steam locos frequently outbids modern diesel-electric" ... yes, especially this one! and it weighs 1.2 Million pounds!!! youtube.com/watch?v=x8f9VFlNyDQ

Sorry to usurp the thread... here's one last one, more of interest to us old car fans: some very early historical film footage is here, a "living museum" if you will, of the most famous US car company and man:

Thanks Roger. Alternative to the impressive steam-driven Big Boys from Union Pacific and Henry Ford and his gasoline engines, the Romanian museum offers a third way: a Stirling engine. Invented and patented in 1816 the idea survived until today but lives in the shadow of combustion engines and sometimes even at the bottom of the sea.
Next to it is displayed another true piece of history. The straight-lined design of an International Harvester single-cylinder four-cycle 10 HP engine with transmission wheel bears witness to bygone days of unrivalled soundness.

Now an introductory pic to keep you on tenterhooks. The snapshot has been taken in Le Mans in 1933.

Also found this which contains some info about an interesting 1923 car, a PERSU.
Gerd, I'm putting this museum on my must see list if I'm ever in Bucharest!

Yes Mal, you nailed it. Even two times. But let's take one thing at a time. When looking at a 1959 German "DKW" I saw out of the corner of my eyes an indicating label "Duesenberg". Amidst steam engines and atomic powered Eastern block radio-teleprinters it came as a stunner.
