Considering installing fog lights and a back up light. Does any one have a pictures or a reference source for these? I believe Trippe made fog lights that year, did Packard make their own?

Probably purchased from Unity or one of the other many vendors of such accessories, with Packard script or bezel ID. I don't believe Packard ever made their own lights of this type.

The backup light was originally made by Yankee. There is a specific difference setting it apart from the swap meet style, plus the PACKARD engraving on top. NO, the reproduction backup light engraving font is not an accurate font.

The cataloged 1940 driving lamp was made buy Guide, but again, with a Packard specific inner medallion. I may put a set up for sale for my annual Holiday sale, unless you want to call dibs on a pair ahead of that time...expensive.

I find that with Packard's sealed beam headlights for 1940, an extra set of lights is not needed. Plus, the look of the car without all the extra lights is much better. That's my opinion, of course.

Actually, West, I agree with you on the appearance issue. This is the reason if I decide to do this want to be sure it's absolutly correct. What started this is my speedo locked up so had to pull the dash. So as long as the dash is out decided to rewire under the dash and thought I would at least dead end the fog and back up light wiring. Also replacing rear loom which appears to be original as I'm installing directionals. Though not original, feel they are necessayr for night driving. With the club sedan the rear visibility is very poor. If your ihterested you can see my Packard in the club registry it looks just like your dad's. Mine is wilshire green your dad's however appears to be black? Trying to find the original thin green and brown stripe seat upholstery. Tried all the well known places with no luck. Would you happen know of a source?

No. Sorry. A friend up in the Akron, Ohio area recently did a beautiful restoration of his green 1940 club sedan. I'll shoot him an e-mail and find out what his source was.

If you do install the lights they should be aimed downward and toward the curb on the right side and toward the center line on the left.

The purpose of this is to allow low speed driving in heavy fog and provide vision around curves during night driving on dark roads.

Just my two cents worth, but if you go to a place like Ozarks you will see what I'm talking about.

Thanks, no, I don't know the owner of the pictured club sedan but would like to email him. I have been on quite a journey in bringing mine back to road worthiness.
