I am restoring a 1941 160 coupe. I intend to paint it in 2-tone, French Gray over Barola Blue.
Can anyone please post pictures of the 2-tone painting of the door jambs. I'm unsure where the dividing line is, and whether the whole jamb is painted single colour or not.

mine are cut at the belt line level but the car was repainted years ago so I cannot vouch for it being the factory method (looks better though).

I've been collecting pictures of 1941 two-toned cars for years trying to determine how the door jambs were originally painted. There aren't a lot of pictures of original two-toned paint jobs with the door open. I have come to believe the jamb was painted the lower (darker) color only. Anyway, that's what I am going to do with my 180 if/when I get around to painting it (Silver French Gray over Puritan Gray). If anyone can provide documentation to the contrary, I'd like to see it.

I have seen a factory production line photo with the door open, and the door jam is definitely the bottom color on both the top and bottom. I suspect that if the car is a sedan, the B-pillar will have the two-tone line, but I haven't found anything to verify that.

That should be an extremely attractive 2-tone paint scheme. Though the hues are a bit different a friend repainted his 2103 in Vanderbilt Gray over Coral Blue (metallics) which is IMO a stunning combination. Sorry, can't help with where the paint breaks were but I look forward to photos of the finished product.

and the ads are no help (not even unreliable help) because all the cars drawn in them have perfect and tight door alignment with no chance of the jamb showing :)

there is a person with a 120 sedan (and in silver/blue) that is unrestored - if it is still orig paint he might have the answer (car is in the owner registry). I'm pretty confident that whatever the practice was it would have been the same across all series

This is the route I'm going as far as the door openings/a,b,c pillars are concerned (solid lower color). I think this is an example of original paint... but who knows for sure?
