I will be repainting the car this spring and will need to replace the trunk lid. Can someone tell what will interchange? I'm having trouble with the Parts List.

Thanks for the input..............

Hi Steve
Having recently replaced my trunk lid, the way I understand it is that pretty much any lid from 1939-1940, except the coupe (and Darrins, of course). All lids fit between Six and Super Eight. The one thing you have to look for, though, is that there were differences if you had a luggage rack or not.

Luggage rack meant you had a T handle opener and a separate license plate unit with light. I notice more than one type of handle besides the T handle on cars with luggage rack, so there must have been another version early on.

Withou luggage rack there is a much, much larger trunk handle that also incorporates the license plate.

One other thing should be noted. Cars WITH luggage racks SHOULD NOT have a bumper that has the Packard script on it. You can see by these photos that as time goes on, more and more people are less aware of what is correct, and seem to install anything that fits (I'm referring to the maroon Hyman car).
