Well, I did pursue one of my non Packard beauties: a step down Hudson, 1950 to be exact. I wasn't seeking it, but it showed up on a used car lot nearby: cosmetically decent, 49k miles, good interior, but needing lots of mechanical work. After about 100hrs of work, it is a great car.

And, Since I love the independents, I'd really like a Willys Wagon. Love the simple utility and beauty.

Yeah I'd like to find a Willys wagon or pickup too.....

I am actually planning on restoring a Willys pickup; I have more of the parts, just need the time. Post-navy project.

I also want to get a 1931 Model A roadster. My grandpa owned one in the late '40s, and always talked about it. He's been gone for about 6 years, but I think it would be cool.

I have always been a fan of the classic era cars; if not another Packard, I really like Auburns, Franklins, and Pierce-Arrows.

I would really love to have a 1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina. I bought one in 1988 and managed to rebuild the engine before I ran out of time and money to complete the restoration. If I had it today, rest assured I would get it back on the road!

There is a lot about the car to like. It has a great engine, 5-speed transmission, large trunk space, and amazing headroom and leg room. Several years ago, I had the opportunity to ride in one and it was a revelation; this car has amazing handling and response. The engine is pure Italian.

I like the GT, Alfetta, and Spider; but in my book, the Berlina is probably the most overlooked and underappreciated Alfa of them all.

It seems from previous postings that our tastes are varied and of high quality. I am enjoying these two non-Packards.

Just a thought, probably out of Left field for many....I have been following this thread for a few years and have contributed to it as well. My primary love is Packards and my wife Ann and I have a few dozen with 9 on the Road from 5th to 56th Series. I also have other cars such as a 1978 450 SE Benz, a 1969 NSU RO80 and 1969 Ford Falcon GT. We also have around 70 motorbikes with more than 50 on the road. I collected so many because people would say....you should have one of these as they are the best...Blah..Blah...I basically bought them to compare them and no I don't have huge money, my kids were raised on Grits and we saved all the Macka's money. Anyway the point to my rambling is that I also have two Rollers. A very early 1966 Shadow SRH1336 and a 1934 Phantom 11, TA93. The Naysayers delight in pulling Rolls-Royce apart as a Triumph of Design over Engineering, after all it has a cross flow alloy cylinder head in an era when few understood the corrosion involved....but have you ever driven one? They are so very similar in perspective to Packards, which is why English road testers always commented so favourably on Packards as " an exceptional car from the other side of the Atlantic". Here is a picture of the 1934 P11, Thrupp and Maberly Limousine De Ville, TA93. It now has 3,680 miles from new. It had a minor traffic accident in 1936 and all of the replacement part Serial Numbers are listed. This attention to detail is so very special and the car history is still available from Rolls-Royce...even with German owners. . Best Regards, Peter Toet
