My 41 has an issue with the front seat adjuster. The lever on the side of the seat at the bottom has some type of heavy wire that connects to the adjuster in which the seat mounts to. The wire is gone on mine. My question is can I make this or is there something unique about the wire ? Looks to me as it is a straight link from the lever to the adjuster. Thank you

Even as late as '54, it's just a piece of heavy wire that connects one side to another. Also, there are little return springs on each of the track locks that keep them engaged.

If I am guessing correctly, you mean the actual adjuster knob pieces. From the looks of the mechanism in parts manual there appears to be a wire like piece extending out the side of the track mechanism. From the orientation, the end would appear to lift and rotate the horizontal section in order to pull a lock tab out and free the slide. Is that piece you mean? If yours has the same operator knob in the illustration, that appears to have another straight length of wire or rod which would attach to the end of the first wire to pull it up.

Depending on which wire you mean it should be possible to replace it with something from the hardware store. Typically on small linkages like that Packard used 1/8 or 3/16 diameter rod or wire. The part on the adjuster track would need to be formed so as it rotates, it pulls the tab out sufficiently to release the slide. There may be a torsion spring also attached to the wire. The straight wire on the knob itself would need to have something like a clevis or rod end screwed onto it so it could connect to the part from seat track and still allow freedom to pivot or slide slightly.

This may help, but can't see spring.
