Is this the location you refer to? If so, a rubber wedge bumper goes in the hole -- 3 on each side. Steele has them. If not the location, maybe a photo of the area would help identify.
The small round buttons go on the radiator splasher for the front lip of the hood to rest on. Someone else will have to answer the wheel question.

The area I am describing (apparently not well) is on the side of the hood that would face the wedge bumper you have pictured. Not directly opposite the wedge but along that edge of the hood.

I believe the proper part is actually the second of the two pictures posted. There is a separate part number for the hood to grill bumpers. Thanks.

Interesting. l don't recall ever seeing anything on the sides of the hood but will admit to not paying that much attention. I would think it a very vulnerable item as it seems if the hood came down the least bit crooked or tight in the gap they would be sheared off.

The hole on the side of the hood is a tooling hole and nothing goes into it.

I also thought that a bumper in that location would be vulnerable. Steele rubber lists three different hood bumper part numbers/descriptions. The two pictured above and part# 33-0542-42 (hood side to fender).

My error. Steele has two part numbers. One is for the wedge and the other is described as "hood side to fender". There is no hood to radiator/splash pan bumper described although there are bumpers in that location.

Reaffirming Ross's statement above, I've never seen anything placed in those hood side holes. Bumpers placed there would serve no useful purpose.
